What is the difference between ChatGPT and the AI Concierge?
Large language models such as those behind ChatGPT have revolutionised everyday work. Whether researching, writing texts or translating – artificial intelligence answers questions and solves problems that previously only humans could solve.
Even so, the large language models behind ChatGPT reach their limits too.
Why not just always ask ChatGPT?
Having ChatGPT answer questions is great. But how do I ask when I don’t know exactly what I need?
Employees getting to grips with new topics quickly realise that they don’t get very far with questions without overlooking important things.
Of course, ChatGPT can also solve some tasks directly. A standard email is quickly drafted. Most of ChatGPT’s results, however, have to be checked and adapted.
For most tasks, employees need to be well informed themselves in order to use ChatGPT and similar tools efficiently.
Comprehensive information
aiconver’s AI Concierge addresses exactly this area: when employees want to inform themselves comprehensively for a task – perhaps even without prior knowledge.
Comprehensive information prevents duplicated work and costly mistakes. These are significant problems – unnecessary duplicated work alone costs 11% of working time on average. Source
The AI Concierge answers the request: “Give me a comprehensive overview of what content I should know about my work topic and why!”
Challenge: intelligent summaries
A comprehensive overview means: the AI Concierge has to process content from hundreds of internal documents, chat histories and minutes so that users can identify helpful texts and passages in seconds.
The AI Concierge
The AI Concierge is a language model specialised in summarising texts with keywords. Unlike sentences, keywords make it possible to skim hundreds of texts in seconds – if they are used intelligently.
To enable this quick skimming, the keyword-based summaries of the AI Concierge meet special requirements that ChatGPT cannot fulfil.
Intelligent summaries
In a study, participants were given texts. Every word was noted on a small slip of paper. The task: summarise the text with keywords. What did the participants do? They took individual word slips and grouped them by meaning. The AI Concierge replicates this intuitive way of summarising:
- Keywords are grouped by meaning – keywords with similar meanings are placed together.
- The keywords are adapted to employees’ interests – an employee currently working on legal topics is shown different keywords from her colleague who is currently working on a design.
To be able to skim several texts faster, this summary should always be comparable – that way you can quickly see the similarity between two texts:
- The keyword groups are consistent across multiple texts: two texts with similar meanings also have similar keywords.
Summaries always involve a dilemma: they should be as short as possible – otherwise reading takes too long. At the same time, a summary should be comprehensive and reflect all relevant aspects of a text. The AI Concierge resolves this dilemma with three requirements:
- There are at most 16 keywords per keyword group
- There are at most 16 keyword groups per text
- The keywords summarise the text comprehensively; no important aspect is left out.
In addition, each keyword group has a colour – texts with similar colour combinations also have similar meanings. This also makes skimming easier: if I spot an interesting text, say with red-green colours, I can immediately recognise similar texts while skimming.
If I see an irrelevant text, say one in shades of blue, I can skip blue texts while skimming.
Summaries in the AI Concierge
This intelligent summary enables users of the AI Concierge to skim hundreds of items in seconds and get comprehensively informed about available content.
The AI Concierge understands what employees are working on and automatically summarises all relevant internal content intelligently.
Example: a product developer can survey all similar past work results for a customer enquiry in seconds.
This prevents costly duplicated work.
The combination makes the difference!
Every AI has its strengths and weaknesses. Of course, having large language models such as ChatGPT answer questions is a great feature. Intelligent software solutions such as aiconver’s AI Concierge therefore combine different language models.
This way, a user of the AI Concierge can first get an overview of a topic, for example skim the existing advertising flyers for software products and read through interesting flyers as a template. She can then ask an AI for a suggestion for the flyer text.
Thanks to the background knowledge she has gained, the user can now confidently decide whether the quality of the suggested text is good enough.
This is how AI solutions complement each other – and employees work in a more relaxed, safer and faster way.
